This
Class is for the Hobby/Entry Level Driver and
is not intended to be a high dollar car division.
If you desire to spend a lot of money on a car,
PLEASE consider building or purchasing a PRO STOCK,
SPORTSMAN, OR MODIFIED CAR. These rules are for
the safety of all and standardized fairness in
the pure stock division and are non-negotiable.
1.
ALL DRIVERS must be at least 16 years old. Any
driver under 18 years of age must have on file
at the speedway, a release form SIGNED BY A PARENT
OR LEGAL GUARDIAN and a copy of his / her birth
certificate prior to their first race.
2. A fire
extinguisher capable of putting out fuel and oil
fires will be on hand in the car's pit area (not
in the car) are mandatory. The extinguisher will
be of the class B, C, or B/C type only. No air
pressurized, refillable, water Class A type extinguishers
will be accepted for the purpose of extinguishing
fires in the pit area.
3. Cars are
subject to inspection and re-inspection at any
time during the season to ensure compliance with
these rules. Especially following major damage
from wrecks.
4.
Tech Inspectors and Track Officials reserve
the right to perform an in depth technical inspection
on any car they feel is not in compliance with
these rules no matter what position the car finished
in the event.
5. Any car
found not in compliance with these rules EXCEPT
THOSE RULES CONCERNING THE PERSONAL SAFETY OF
ANY AND ALL will be allowed to participate in
that weeks event but will automatically be disqualified
from receiving prize money and points for that
event, and will not be eligible to participate
in future events until the infractions are corrected.
6. WHEELBASE -
Stock OEM measurements for the year, make, and
model. No station wagons, convertibles, 4 wheel
drives, no trucks and front wheel drives.
7. DOORS
- MUST be welded or bolded shut, NO CHAINS
ACCEPTED.
8. ALL GLASS
must be removed. Windscreen will be fabricated
from heavy steel wire screening with square opening
of ½" to ¾". One support
bar will run from roll cage down to dash for support
and screen will cover the entire original windshield
opening. Window nets are mandatory and must be
able to easily be opened from both inside by driver
or outside by safety personnel.
9. STOCK Appearance
- Fenders and rear wheel wells will not be cut
away or modified; front inner wheel wells may
be removed. All chrome and painted trim will be
removed. No sharp or jagged edges and no rear
view mirrors. Passenger side and rear area of
drivers area will not be sheeted over, stock OEM
stamped steel only. All holes (machined, cut or
rust) will be covered and sealed in firewall,
floor pans, and trunk bulkhead to prevent fire
and/or hot liquids from entering driver's area
especially where the fuel line passes through
the trunk bulkhead and firewall. Cars that do
not have bulkhead between the trunk and drivers
area will have to fabricate one to isolate the
two areas. The only exception will be the hole
for the throttle linkage passing through the firewall.
Exterior openings may be covered i.e headlights,
side markers, and tail light openings. 4 retaining
pins will secure the hood and 4 pins for trunk
lid unless original hinges are used in which case
2 pins for the door and 2 for the trunk lid will
suffice. Bumpers will be stock and ends will be
covered and attached to the body sheet metal to
prevent hooking. No exterior rub rails permitted
on sides of bodies.
10. A Reinforced wheel is required
on the right front. Original stock rims will have
a spot welded to the plate on the inside of the
wheel. All wheels will be steel (NO ALUMINUM)
and 1" lug nuts are mandatory on all four
wheels. Four wheels must be identical on all corners.
MINIMUM WIDTH 7" MAXIMUM WIDTH 8" No
tolerance allowed. TIRE will be street tread only
with a maximum 8" tread width. NO snow, mud,
studded light truck directional (Hoosier, McCreary,
Towel City, etc), or retread tires. Radial tires
are highly recommended. NO OFFSET WHEELS ALLOWED.
All wheels will be measured from outer bead radius
to center bolt pattern. 7" wheel measurement
not to exceed 3 ¾", 8" wheel
measurement not to exceed 4 ¼"
11. FUEL CELL -
Max 22 gal. Capacity. Cell will be centered in
trunk and if trunk floor is removed will not extend
below the frame rails behind the rear axle. The
fuel cell will be secured with a minimum of two
1" X 1/8" flat steel straps secured
by 3/8" bolts. A catch can is highly recommended.
Fuel lines will be made of steel tubing or steel
braided hose from fuel cell to carburetor through
the center of drivers area with a fuel shut off
valve painted a bright color (red, yellow, orange
or white) located next to the drivers seat . OEM
rubber fuel hose and OEM fuel tanks are not allowed!
A one-way check valve will be installed in the
event of a roll over.
12. FUEL -
Pump fuel with a maximum octane rating of 93.
No leaded racing fuel allowed. No additives or
boosters permitted. This will strictly be enforced.
13. ENGINES/INTAKE MANIFOLD
- V-8 engines only. 350 General Motors, 351 Ford,
360 Chrysler. Normally aspirated engines only.
Intake manifold MUST remain stock, cast iron passenger
car 2 barrel only.
14. AIR CLEANER -
Air cleaner may be OEM or after market. After
market will be Mr. Gasket part #4339 with Mr.
Gasket adaptor #6406. (No hi-rise, no power enhancing,
no diffusers, no reflectors, no hats, NO MODIFICATIONS
OF ANY KIND). An air cleaner element no higher
than 3 ¼" (after market reusable element
allowed)
15. CABURETORS
- stock two barrel carburetors only. Maximum throttle
bore 1- 11/16" and maximum venturi bore of
1 ¼". OEM replacement parts only.
No speed parts. No race type carburetors. NO boring
or polishing of throttle or venturi bores allowed!
NO modification of throttle shaft, butterfly screws,
or internal parts allowed. Choke plate and choke
shaft may be removed.
16. FUEL PUMPS
must be stock OEM stamped steel bowl type pumps
only. Fittings are available to adapt steel braided
fuel hose to them from several sources.
17. RADIATORS
must remain in stock location, no aluminum radiators.
A catch can for the radiator overflow is mandatory.
18. CRANKSHAFT
must be OEM stock for the type of engine, no lighting
or boring allowed.
19. PISTONS
must be stock OEM cast or cast replacement, Chevy
pistons may be flat. Top 2 or 4 valve relief types,
no pop up's allowed. Max cylinder bore allowed
is .40 over. Stock OEM rods, no matching allowed.
20. CYLINDER HEADS
must be stock OEM cast iron only, NO BOWTIE, DART,
VORTEX, OR ALUMINUM HEADS!!! Heads may not be
ported and polished in any way. Head studs are
not allowed.

21. CAMSHAFT
must be stock hydraulic lifter type only. Stock
lift and duration will be maintained. Nor roller
cams or lifters. No solid lifters. Camshaft lift
will be measured at the valve. Maximum lift will
not exceed 0.480.
22. ROCKER ARMS/ROCKER
STUDS - Long slot rockers are allowed
as long as the stock rocker lift and duration
is not affected. Rocker arm studs may be pinned.
No screw-in studs allowed. Rocker arm studs bosses
will not be machined.
23. IGNITION
- Only Stock OEM breaker point and HEI (Electronic
Ignition) distributors with OEM coils. No after
market distributors or coils permitted. Ignition
and battery switches will be mounted in the center
of the dash so safety personnel can easily access
them from either side of the car. Indicator lights
for these switches are highly recommended. Stock
ignition switches in the steering column will
be removed completely to prevent inadvertent locking
of the steering column. No car with column type
switch will be permitted to run in any event during
the season.
24. THROTTLE LINKAGE
may be of the solid rod type. No throttle cables
are allowed for any event. Dual throttle springs
are mandatory.
25. EXHAUST MANIFOLD
may be OEM cast iron, NO CENTER DUMP, RAM HORN
or HEADERS are allowed, no porting and polishing
or internal coating allowed.
26. EXHAUST
- Single or dual exhaust is allowed, only stock
or California turbo mufflers with rev baffles.
Exhaust must exit behind the doors, 2 ½"
pipe outside diameter is the maximum allowed.
Welding of joints is highly recommended to prevent
muffler falling out if the car bottoms out.
27. BATTERY -
Must remain in the engine compartment sealed from
driver's compartment and securely fastened to
prevent contact with metal parts and damage in
the event of a roll over or impact. Battery cut-off
is MANDATORY. Electrical cut-off switch to cut
battery hot wire circuit must be mounted to the
right of center on the dash in clear view of safety
crew.
28. CHARGING SYSTEM
- must be maintained in a functional state to
allow car to be self-starting . Any car that will
not start from line up on its own will be placed
at the rear of the field no matter where handicappers
place car in field.
29. ROLL CAGE
- A MANDATORY 6 point roll cage must be used to
surround the driver and must be constructed of
1 ½" outside diameter steel tubing
with a 1/8" wall thickness. Welding of joints
must be continuous around the entire joint, no
partial beads or spot welding. Welding will be
of good quality, excessive slag and overheating
of steel (burn through) will be cause for rejection.
The up rights must be mounted over on the left
and right sides of the frame with upright in front
and one behind the driver on each side of the
frame. They must be securely welded to the flat
horizontal portion of the frame not the kick ups.
The four bars joining the uprights must be at
least two inches above the helmet height of the
driver when strapped into the car. There will
be at least 3 horizontal bars on both sides of
the car connecting the main uprights; these horizontal
bars must have at least one set vertical supports
centered between the main uprights to tie the
bars together. A diagonal bar from the top left
bar down to the top horizontal bar in the driver's
door is highly recommended. A horizontal bar at
dash height must connect the front uprights. The
rear uprights must be connected from the top of
the left rear upright down to the bottom of the
right rear upright. Any joint between two or more
must be gusseted with at least 1/8" steel
material for added strength. Flush grinding of
welds is not permitted. Threaded pipe, angle iron,
pipe fittings, lap weld pipe , soft metals such
as aluminum, and channel iron will not be used.
Any bars running through the engine and trunk
compartments will be completely within the body
panels of the car. A Front hoop to protect the
radiator may be used but will be at least 4"
behind front body parts to prevent it being used
as a push bar. Two (2) additional horizontal bars
behind the fuel cell to provide crush protection
are highly recommended. One (1) bar in this location
is mandatory.
30.
PADDING - Any cage bars within 18"
of the driver's body, extended arms, legs and
head will be padded. The steering wheel center
will also be padded.
31. ALUMINUM RACING SEATS
are mandatory. No fiberglass seats. Seats must
be securely fastened with 6 bolts, 4 on the bottom
and 2 on the back, to the frame and roll cage.
32. ALL drivers
must wear a 2000 or newer Snell approved helmet
(no motocross helmets)
33. Fire suit,
one piece is highly recommended. Fire retardant
underwear, gloves, and racing shoes are highly
recommended.
34. SEAT BELTS AND HARNESS
- All cars must be equipped with a 5-point seat
belts to SFI 16.1 specifications. Belts older
than 36 months (from the date of manufacture)
will not be permitted. All belts must be securely
fastened to the frame or cage. Bolts may not be
inserted through the webbing for mounting. Seat
belt webbing that comes into contact with any
sharp or and metal edge must be protected from
that edge by means of push on grip vinyl trim.
The areas of concern are the webbing slots in
the metal racing seats. All the seat manufacturers
either roll the edge or supply the seat with trim
protecting the webbing from abrasion or cutting
under impact conditions. Webbing entry slots into
the seat with an existing metal roll of 1/8"
smooth radius will not require vinyl trim.
35. TRANSMISSIONS
- Scatter shields for manual transmissions are
mandatory. Flywheel and clutch assemblies will
be stock OEM. Automatic transmissions must run
Stock OEM Torque Converter and shatter blanket
is highly recommended.
36. DRIVE TRAIN -
Drive shafts will be steel only and painted gloss
white to aid other drivers in seeing it if it
should snap and end up on the track, Drive shaft
loop will be made of 1/8" thick material
at least 2" wide, installed no more than
6 inches behind the front U-joint. DRIVE SHAFT
LOOP IS MANDITORY
Rear ends will be stock OEM. Stock tread width
will be maintained.
37. SUSPENSION
-STOCK PARTS ONLY!!! Coil springs must be matched
and OEM. No spacers, Shims, Jacking bolts or adjustments
of any type permitted except camber, caster, and
toe in. Longer adjustment bolts are allowed on
the right front to facilitate camber/caster adjustment,
Rear leaf springs will have the same amount of
leafs per side.
38. SHOCKS
- OEM or aftermarket OEM replacement only, NO
performance shocks (carrera, koni,bilstein,pro,afco,
) shocks must be mounted in OEM position, Max
price per shock 49.00
39. BRAKES
must be OEM or replacement parts that meet OEM
specifications. All components will function as
designed and vehicle's brakes are subject to inspection
at any time for proper operation. Parking brakes
are not required. Absolutely no aluminum calipers
or lightweight drums or rotors (drilled) will
be allowed. No type of adjustable proportioning
valves or similar equipment is allowed.
40. TOW HOOKS
or easily accessible lifting cables front and
rear are mandatory. Car will not be allowed on
track without them!!!!
41. CAR NUMBERS
must be 2 digits only and will be assigned by
Speedway office at time of initial registration
(1-99). No 3 digit numbers allowed. If you desire
a specific number register early so you are not
left out. No duplicate numbers or any letters
allowed. Visiting cars from other tracks must
be prepared to renumber upon registration and
assignment of car number by OCFS officials.
42. WEIGHT-
minimum weight of 3200 lbs. If weight is added
it must be bolted to frame in trunk and painted
white. Corresponding car number must be painted
in black.
