Devil’s Bowl Speedway: Two-Night Champions’ Gala

RUTLAND, VT – Devil’s Bowl Speedway is set to conclude the 2016 stock car racing season in an extravagant manner with a two-night extravaganza on February 3-4, 2017. The highly anticipated annual Banquet of Champions will be held at the Holiday Inn Rutland-Killington in Rutland, Vt., marking its fifth consecutive year at this venue. This year, the Banquet of Champions has been divided into two dates for the very first time, all to accommodate the recent succession of sold-out crowds. An estimated 400 guests in total, encompassing drivers, car owners, team members, sponsors, officials, and devoted fans, are anticipated to be in attendance.

On Friday, February 3, drivers from the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series will be recognized for their outstanding efforts at Devil’s Bowl Speedway’s 3/10-mile Dirt Track. Bobby Hackel will proudly collect his maiden championship in the Central Vermont Motorcycles Sportsman Modified division, while Bill Duprey will be awarded the Rosen & Berger Renegade title and Mike Ryan will claim the Portland Glass Mini Stock crown. Additionally, Chris Donnelly will receive the first Sprint Car title in Devil’s Bowl Speedway’s illustrious 50-year history.

On Saturday, February 4, competitors at the 1/2-mile Asphalt Track at Devil’s Bowl Speedway will receive their due recognition. Jason Durgan will be gloriously crowned as a first-time Bond Auto Parts Sportsman Modified champion, with Josh Masterson securing his second Central Vermont Motorcycles Late Model title. Jim McKiernan will be hailed as the Rosen & Berger Renegade king and rookie Eric Messier will be honored with the Portland Glass Mini Stock accolades. Cory Gray will also be feted as the Enduro Series title winner.

In addition to the division champions, trophies will be bestowed upon the top drivers and Rookie of the Year recipients in every category. A collection of special annual awards will also shine a spotlight on each evening, including the peer-voted Sportsmanship Awards and the Most Improved Driver Awards. Bonus prizes will be presented on behalf of Bond Auto Parts, Five Star Race Car Bodies, Shiley Fabrication, Crazy Horse Racing, the University of Northwestern Ohio, and NASCAR. Altogether, more than 90 drivers hailing from six states are slated to grace the stage during the joyous festivities.

Tickets for the Banquet of Champions are now accessible. The single-event pricing remains at $45 for adults and $25 for kids aged 13 and under. Discounted two-night tickets are priced at $75 for adults and $45 for kids aged 13 and under.
